The Advanced Bharatanatyam Program is designed for intermediate and advanced dancers who wish to deepen their technique, abhinaya, nritta, rhythmic understanding, musicality, and performance confidence. The program follows a structured, progressive approach. Each annual syllabus is organized into focused training terms that combine technique development with selected Bharatanatyam repertoire. Students may join for individual terms or follow the complete annual pathway, depending on their goals, availability, and prior training.
Who Should Enroll
This program is suitable for dancers who: ● Are returning to Bharatanatyam after a break. ● Want to rebuild stamina and refine their technique. ● Seek focused training in selected Bharatanatyam repertoire. ● Want to deepen their nritta and abhinaya practice. ● Enjoy structured learning with regular practice goals. ● Are preparing for a performance, examination, audition, or personal milestone. ● Have completed at least one Bharatanatyam margam or have equivalent training. The program is open to dancers of all ages who meet the prerequisite level.
What is a Margam?
In Bharatanatyam, a margam refers to a complete performance repertoire or a structured sequence of items that a dancer learns and presents. It typically includes pieces such as Alarippu, Jatiswaram, Shabdam, Varnam, Padams, and Tillana, arranged in a traditional order. Completing one margam means you have gone through this full sequence at least once and have a foundational understanding of the art form’s structure, technique, and expression.
